Oh yeah…short hair? :)

I can’t remember if I mentioned on my blog that after my wedding v 1.1 and wedding v 1.2 I would be interested in having short hair. Now I haven’t had short hair since I was probably 8 years old and back then I looked like a skinny boy.

Not long after coming back to the UK, I went to a few salons and tried out different styles. It was not until I went to my hairdresser in the Philippines that I found the perfect cut.

Not the greatest of pictures, but they will have to do for now. Thoughts? :)

Morning readers! I don’t know about you, but here in the UK it feels like we’ve skipped autumn and headed straight into winter. Time to think about fashionable ways to keep our toes nice and toasty.

So, when I was informed of a Whooga Ugg Boots giveaway at Whooga Europe, I thought it would be a good to share. And don’t worry, this giveaway is open to everyone in all countries, which is helpful knowing that my readers are an international lot ;)

There are two ways to win, because there are two giveaways. One is by following Whooga Europe on their twitter account. Another giveaway is for everyone who signs up to their newsletter. They will then draw boots for the winners at the end of each month.

And for those who don’t want to leave it to luck, there is an exclusive discount open to all my Knittering.com readers. Just use the code 443KNITTER to get 10% off any buys all next week.

Enjoy!

Winter Colours

Yesterday was our first proper snow day. I had booked a table for two at a lovely bistro that evening. But first I needed to survive my last day in the office before the New Year. I didn’t want to bring a change of clothes, but I didn’t want to be boring either. Actually, I wanted to be a bit brave and make good my decision to add some colour into my daily wardrobe.

I decided on this lovely paint splash dress I got from Blue Inc, slid on a cinch belt (they improve almost everything) and covered my shoulders with my fave versatile blazer to ‘office it up’. I also dug out my reliable yet stylish winter boots. These babies’ 3+ inch heels work the snow and ice, because while living in Switzerland I took them to a shoe repair guy, who put treads on them that would rival Goodyear car tyres. There’s a tip for you, make these people your friends.

I was so surprised how well this outfit worked. I got complimented so much, it definitely pays to be creative. I never really thought I could pull off such a colourful dress, especially against a stark white background of snow. A sure winner for my Christmas evening outfit.

The Sartorialist

I have been a fan of Scott Schuman for a while now and his blog, The Sartorialist, is one of my top daily reads. So when I learned that he had a book coming out, I knew I would have to get my hands on it. But not long after I picked it up from the bookshop, did it disappear from my shelf and make the rounds amongst friends and family. His photographs appealed to everyone. My friends loved the street fashion and my mom loved the stories portayed.

Enjoying this book is pure selfish heaven. Scott Schuman advises readers not to be harsh critics of the styles worn, but to take away something good from every photo. And there are lots of photos. 507 pages of them!

It is between those pages I realised how bland and dull my own wardrobe compared. So let’s be a bit brave and have a bit of fun! How about wearing something really colourful this holiday season? ;)

The monsters in the closet…

Look what I found during my yearly closet clear out. I don’t know how they got there, but omg! I was tempted to burn them and exorcise the demons out of every piece of clothing it touched. Even the addition of black strappy heels couldn’t save them.

Forget the heels for this one! I needed a motorcycle and an overweight beardy biker boyfriend.

I didn’t know what to do with them. So I did what every good citizen should do.

Donate to Oxfam.

Ps. Dear mama, if you are responsible for the existence of these pieces in my house, I apologise for the tone of this post. But seriously!…I hope they weren’t expensive. I didn’t check the labels. God, I hope they weren’t designer!

Update: Wow, it looks like the majority thought I should’ve kept dress one! Too late now, I hope the next person likes it more than I did :)

Shoebox Sunday

Those of you who know me well, know that my enjoyment of fashion is equally matched by my enjoyment of organising things. That’s a polite way of saying that I could be am a control freak drugged up on OCPD, who loves to spend a free Sunday surrounded by boxes. And I have recently discovered the genius that is clear shoe boxes.

When you go into the wardrobe, you go to war. Well, you can’t spell one without the other. It is a sophisticated battle, dictating the need for beautiful French wine (yes, I am slowly converting…viva la France!) and a few slices of good Manchego. And we are heralded into battle by the inane voices from a chick flick on the telly. Onwards troops!

Took no captives and spared neither fancy heel or winter boot. No more desperate searches through a disorganised pile of opaque boxes for the perfect pair of feet jewelry for a night out. I hope anyway ;)

So the Wedding Dress…

Make her a lady!

I recently received these cute quilted pumps from Blue Inc. I’ve been obsessed with white and black shoes for a while now! And as friends have threatened me with therapy if I bought black and white brogues, I decided this would be a good compromise.

There’s just something timeless about the style. As I know that during the months of winter I delve into my fairytales, I thought these shoes would be very appropriate to accompany my fanciful moods. It’s a touch of elegance that’ll save me from even the most unladylike positions ;)

*ahem* On another note, now that the wedding(s) are over, I finally got my hair cut short! I really like the length, will be debating in the coming month or so if I should be brave and cut it even shorter. Thoughts? Last time I had really short hair, I looked like a boy. 0_o

My Autumn Yellow

Karen Millen Graphic colour block shopper

The Karen Millen Graphic Colour Block Shopper

I’ve been itching for some burst of colour in my wardrobe for a while. So I couldn’t resist.

My Karen Millen obsession continues… I should be careful, else I become a walking advertisement of their products. I’ve never had a store suit my style so well.

I wish their matching shoes weren’t a peep toe. I hate peep toes. The autumn yellow saga continues with the search of the perfect yellow shoes (preferably ankle booties!).

Glasses by Marc Jacobs

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee! I love glasses in general, but I love my new glasses more. Feeling a bit childish with the new face jewelry.

Sorry for the lack of posts! It’s now one week and five days until the big day and everything’s suddenly gaining momentum. And since Mr H came back from Amsterdam I can’t find my camera. Auuuugh! I hope he hasn’t left it in a cafe by the Amstel.

I know I’ve been bad. Will update soon. Promise. xoxoxo

PS. Men + Prada shoes = hot.
